I decided a while back that I was going to do a Best of 2009 post. I wanted to go back and look at our work over the past year, and pick out my favorite shots to showcase a successful year.
Then, Mack and I talked, and decided a contest would be a great way to give back to my readers. A drawing of some sort. Could we wrap that up with the Best of 2009 contest?
Yes, we can. (I don’t have to pay licensing fees to anyone when I say that, right?)
We decided that I’d pick out my favorite images from the year, and have the blogstalkers vote. And, the best part is, there’s more than one winner.
1) One voter will be drawn at random, and will receive a $25 Starbuck’s gift card from McGowan Images.
2) The couple whose image receives the most votes will receive an 8×10 canvas wrap of the image, courtesy of McGowan Images.
3) If the blog post receives more than 50 votes (from 50 different voters), the size of that canvas gets DOUBLED.
I absolutely love this idea. I can give back to readers, give back to clients, and get feedback on favorite images… all with one blog post! There’s only one problem:
I CAN’T DECIDE!
This has seriously been torture. Painful, tear-jerking TORTURE. How can I possibly choose? Some weddings have a dozen images that I swear I’d hang in my own house. (um… actually… several WILL be hung in the new office, once the remodel is complete).
And, of course, since it’s me, I have a tendency to adore shots of people’s feet.
But, because I’m dedicated to throwing a great contest, I’m doing the hard work and picking out my favorite images. My own little “Sophie’s Choice.”
Tomorrow, at 9 a.m. sharp, a blog will go live featuring my favorite images of 2009. Voting will be open until 8 a.m. Monday morning, when I’ll put everyone’s names in a hat and draw one out at random.
Then, I’ll announce the winner of the Gift Card, and the winning photo. The couple in that photo will receive their canvas in time for Christmas!
Soooo… spread the word, people. Contests are fun, and even a first-time commenter can win. Plus, if at least 50 people participate, one of my couples is getting a really huge Christmas present. Everyone loves a huge present, right?
I’ll see you at 9 a.m.!!
