When we were in Kansas last weekend, we took the chance to shoot some engagement portraits for one of Mack’s cousins and had so much fun! It’s always refreshing to explore new towns for places to shoot, and I think Jen helped us find some really great spots in tiny little Arkansas City.
I have to say, it totally warms my heart to see Jen so happy. This is a second marriage for she and Nick both, and it’s absolutely clear that they “got it right the second time”. In the six years I’ve known this girl, I’ve never seen her so happy… and Mack says the same thing, having known her his entire life! It was a true blessing to get to spend the morning capturing this special time in their lives.
That said, I’ll probably never forgive Jen & Nick for running off to St. Thomas for their wedding. Well, at least because they’re not taking me with them!
I’m sure they are going to have a fantabulous time on their trip, and Mack and I look forward to seeing them and their daughters next time we’re up north.
Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session!

Love this tall wheat field… it’s right behind Jen’s parents’ house, and was just lovely in the morning light!

This next one bothered me at first. I was like, “Ugh, darn… grass in the face.” Then I looked at it a few hours later, and was totally in love. Verdict?

Mack likes to take pictures of me while I’m working, and they’re oftentimes quite funny. In this next behind-the-scenes shots, I look like a big game hunter or something!

But my stalking paid off… here’s the shot I got:

What… you DON’T spend your Saturday mornings making out in wheat fields?!?!? Weird.

Dear Jen, you’re gorgeous. Love, chelsea&mack.

A “mom-approved” shot suitable for the newspaper!

We’re so glad we got to spend some time with you guys while we were in town. Congratulations on the start of your new life together!!
(And P.S. : Can SOMEONE please take me to the Caribbean for a wedding? I mean, gah…
