When the maid of honor gave the toast at Abi & Matt’s wedding, she said, “I’ve never known Abi without Matt, and I don’t think I’d want to.”
That one statement completely describes the couple we came to know recently, and who’s beautiful wedding we just captured. This is one of those couples that you can tell just thrive in each other’s company, and it’s wonderful to watch.
Abi & Matt were married at Floral Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls on a VERY hot Saturday. I just don’t think I was prepared for it to get so hot, so soon… but hello, Texas… Summer is here!
I have had a miserable time trying to narrow down the shots I wanted to include in the blog for this wedding. My final number is still about 30 percent more than normal. I just don’t care. I figure, I’ve never had a client complain about long blog posts yet, so you guys probably won’t mind…
Today, I’ll be sharing with you the images we captured while the bride and groom got ready for the big event, and then the couple’s First Sight, some portraits, and the ceremony!

Now, I AM standing on a couch to get this next shot, so Abi looks shorter than she actually is. But the fact remains that even at ground level, Abi’s a tiny, tiny person. I’m pretty short… I’ve never worked with a bride who wasn’t taller than me, so this was a first! It was kind of nice to be able to get all those flattering downward angles without having to climb on stuff.

A small dressing room can sometimes be problematic, but when it’s filled with mirrors and window light, all is forgiven.

Let’s hop over and see how the guys spent their morning…

Jewelry is the finishing touch.

Abi & Matt’s First Sight is one of my favorites EVER. We found a place inside the church with really gorgeous light, which was a blessing since it was so flippin’ hot outside. The images we got from this moment in time make me all sorts of weepy, so you’re about to see lots of them.

Matt gifted Abi with a Bible inscribed with her married name, and it was such a sweet moment…

I love this shot that Mack grabbed over Matt’s shoulder… the way his bride is looking up at him, oh, my heart just melts!

Next up, some portraits! Now, this is a little amusing, because the gameplan for the day was just to get a few portraits, and then move on. And really, we didn’t spend that long on them. Less than 45 minutes, I believe. See, because of time constraints and that darn heat, Abi & Matt have scheduled a Bride & Groom session with us next month to run around Fort Worth and play, and get lots of fun pictures without the schedule of the Big Day wearing us down. So while we wanted to get a few portraits on Saturday, I wasn’t really under any pressure to get anything specific.
And what happened? Well, you’ll see. Basically, these kids are just gorgeous, and too fun to shoot, and even from our laid back efforts, Mack and I got lots of images we really love!

HOW do I get so lucky as to work with such beautiful brides? Seriously, Abi… knock it off.

Everything about this next shot is swoon-worthy to me. The almost kiss, the hair blowing back toward the camera, the veil whipping in the wind. Love it!

The next two shots are a “Mack’s Angle vs. Chelsea’s Angle” example. I love when this happens.

Showtime!

Very rarely is the Mother of the Bride’s trip down the aisle something that makes it to the blog. In this case, I’m blogging it because Dendy is adorable, and because I SERIOUSLY covet the dress she wore. How adorable is that?

After the entrances, I took my post up in the balcony while Mack camped out along the outer edge of the church. Normally our positions would be reversed, but for this wedding, I was (and am) fighting off some major bronchial badness and coughing like crazy, so I wanted to have the best possible conditions for not interrupting the service. I have to say, it was actually a nice change of pace for me to be in charge of getting these wide shots… I’m usually all up in people’s faces!

Man & Wife!

A quick moment to soak up that “We Just Got Married!” feeling…

… and then it’s back to the madness of the Big Day!
Come back tomorrow to see bridal party portraits, and pictures from Abi & Matt’s reception at the Wichita Club. See you then!
