why I’ll be moving slowly over the next few days

Let me assure the two clients I have coming in for portrait sessions this weekend that I am fine, and will still be rockin’ their shoots… just might be moving a little slow.
This is why:

There are apparently targets painted on all my vehicles. Once again, I wasn’t being dumb, or irresponsible, or even breaking the speed limit. I was just minding my own business and pain found ME!

I was in a turn lane on S. Bowie in Weatherford, and a guy whipped out in front of me, obviously not paying attention. I couldn’t stop in time, and I slammed into the side of him. Some tasty T-bone action. Luckily, I was only going about 30 miles an hour.

However, my knee went up into the dashboard, and my seatbelt constricted painfully around my tummy, and my head made a dent in the steering wheel. The airbags didn’t deploy… a point which pisses my husband off to no end.

So, I got a fun ride in the ambulance on a stretcher, because I was kind of loopy, although I didn’t pass out. 4 hours later, I was released from the ER and told I was pretty lucky, because nothing’s broken. Bruised to high heaven… but not broken.

They were wrong. Stevie is broken:

There’s even engine damage! Woo Hoo! Neither of the front doors will open properly, and ain’t no WAY the thing is driving. Poor Stevie… she only lasted about 18 months. That’s not long, even by Chelsea standards. I usually kill them every 2.5 years.

I’m on lots of fun drugs, so I don’t even want to THINK about how expensive yesterday was. Luckily, several witnesses stopped and told the police what happened. Also luckily, the guy was driving some sort of company pickup, which I would hope means he has insurance. The police report should be ready soon, so we can get busy on that.

Mack says I’m getting a new car soon, and I’ll just go ahead and believe him.

For now, I’m going to go back to bed, because sitting up this long has worn me out. Gotta rest up… my baby graduates from kindergarten tonight *sniff sniff*
