jill & curt : celebration

Jill & Curt and their two sweet pups met us in Hamilton, TX last week for gorgeous fall celebration session. I’d never shot in Hamilton before, but drive through often and have met Austin brides there for consults… so I knew my way around a little. Still, I had no idea that the fall foliage around Pecan Creek Park was SO gorgeous. I found myself lamenting the fact that the place is so terribly out of the way for our DFW clients, because I’d love to shoot there again!

Jill & Curt were so easy to shoot… probably because it’s easy for them to just enjoy each other. We had a really great time with them! I actually went to high school with Jill, although we didn’t know each other very well, and it was great to see her so very happy.

In this blog post, I’m going to do something I haven’t done in a while: post images straight out of the camera, without an “edited” version. The thing is, when Mack and I were sorting through these pictures, I realized that I could easily post an entire blog of unedited images, and be completely happy with it. The color was perfect, the lighting was perfect… God’s softbox was really working for us this day, and I’m super proud of the images we were able to produce. But, as always, there are a few places that I can go in to “tweak and pop”, and make things just a little bit better than real life. So some of the images are fully edited, most just have slight RAW color tweaks, and some haven’t been touched at all. It’s up to you to decide which is which.:)

Now, considering that Jill & Curt had brought their sweet dogs Yuma & Shadow on quite a drive, we decided to try and start the session with some pictures of the pups so that they could get out and run around. As evidenced by this next picture, the dogs were NOT interested in sitting pretty when they’d just been released.:)Never fear, though… we got the perfect smiley family portrait at the end of the session (which is of course at the end of this blog!)

So we let the pups cool their heels for a while, and focused on getting some relaxed portraits of their parents.

Loved this bridge!

We made sure to get a shot of Jill & Curt each with their “own” dog. Curt might have made sure to point out that his was the calmer one.:)

And finally, the perfect Christmas card picture! I’m so glad we were able to capture everyone smiling and looking at the camera at the same time! (and yes, I think dogs can smile… you can see it below)

Thank you so much for driving out to see us!! We enjoyed exploring this new location with you, and we hope you’ll come back for more pictures in years to come.

Who’s ready for Thanksgiving? I AM!!! But we’re not quite there yet. So come back tomorrow for another pretty couple on the blog. Then we’ll take Thursday off, before showing off Dot’s 7 month pictures on Friday! You know you’re excited.:)

Liesa - I’m adoring the feeling of fall and love in the air. I know Jill from when she taught one of my dance classes when I was about 12. She is super sweet, so it’s no surprise that the sweetness oozes out of these pictures. Their dogs are beeautiful! I love that you chose to do some unedited shots! :) Great work again!
