Announcing: McG Art Galleries

All of our blog-stalkers should know by now that we have a bit of a travel bug. And, as photographers, we’re really prone to taking pictures of everything we see while we’re out and about. We’ve been asked reasonably often, particularly after our travel blogs, about ways to purchase the images we capture along the way. I (Mack) have been saying “Eventually I’m going to get a gallery up where you can view and buy prints of all that stuff, but I just don’t have time right now…” Well, I finally MADE time, and there’s information at the end of this blog about where to go to view or purchase these images (and MANY more).

Going back through all of these files was a BLAST for me, and I hope you enjoy seeing them. We have shots from our Caribbean cruise…

Our excursions in Aruba:

Our adventures in Hawaii:

Our family vacation to San Diego:

Our “Couples Retreat” to South Lake Tahoe:

Our New Year’s Eve in Salt Lake City:

And our drive up the West coast of Canada:

Along the way, we captured some pretty incredible HDR images…

And LOTS of fun panoramas!

So, now the details… To browse these galleries, visit proofing.mcgowanimages.com/art. If you like something, and it needs a home on your wall– buy it! If you want a panorama, canvas, acrylic, or anything larger than a 16×20, shoot us an e-mail through the gallery contact or our web page, and we’ll get you fixed right up. Happy browsing!

Scotty & Alessa : Celebration

We photographed Scotty & Alessa’s wedding in May 2011, and we were excited to get to catch up with them for a little celebration session! While a dating relationship changes and grows toward marriage, the growing & changing doesn’t stop after “I Do”. We love getting to stay in touch with our past wedding clients, and hear about where life is taking them together.

It was raining buckets just an hour before this session, so we were glad it stopped in time and Scotty & Alessa were wearing boots. Otherwise, it would have been a much soggier adventure!:)

Thank y’all for driving through a wicked storm to come out & play with us! We hope your third year of marriage is as awesome as the first two have been.:)

Debbie Welch - Wonderful pictures. You captured so many amazing poses! The colors & contrasts are outstanding! Not a bad looking couple either, one must be from South Dakota?! HaHa! Congrats on starting your 3rd year together!

Kaitlyn & Cameron : Engagement

We met Kaitlyn & Cameron (and their precious son Owen) at Hannah & Eric’s frigid 2012 wedding. Even though it was a cold, wet, windy day, this couple kept their party hats on for their friends. They were encouraging and helpful and happy all day long, and did whatever they could to make sure their friends had an amazing wedding. So when Cameron cornered us after the ceremony and showed us the picture of the ring he’d picked out for Kaitlyn, we started crossing all our fingers & toes. Sure enough, as soon as the ring was on the finger, we started helping them plan their sure-to-be-incredible September wedding!

This engagement session, photographed around downtown Fort Worth, is going in my metaphorical jar of favorites. Although we shoot downtown Fort Worth all the time, we challenged ourselves to use almost ALL new locations during this session, and I just lovelovelove what we ended up with. Cameron & Kaitlyn have such a comfortable relationship with one another… they know one another inside and out, the buttons to push, and the ways to make one another laugh. They were a joy to photograph, and I think this session really shows what a fantastic time we all had.

Since it’s our last Monday before wedding season, we decided to share an EXTRA long blog post. Aw, who am I kidding? The blog post is extra long because we couldn’t narrow it down any further.;)Enjoy!

Laughing pictures like this are proof that Mack and I are really hilarious in person.:)

I saw this funky-cool bike rack and squealed with delight… such an awesome little find!

We couldn’t see this waterfall feature from up the hill, but we could hear it. I’m so glad we went to investigate. Some of my favorite images, for sure!

Maybe this spot up underneath the Main Street bridge involved a little trespassing. And maybe I sang a certain Red Hot Chili Peppers song under my breath the whole time we were down there. Maybe.

And finally, with the sky and clouds changing colors every 15 seconds, we climbed a hill to finish our session…

Ugh.

That’s the sound you make when you don’t have words or air. UGH! Perfection!

Kaitlyn & Cameron, thank you for traipsing all over Fort Worth with us. Thank you for climbing fences and risking life & limb twisted ankles to fulfill our vision for your engagement pictures. Thank you for trusting us so much, and laughing so loudly. We cannot WAIT for your wedding!

February 25, 2013 - 7:37 am

Kaitlyn Johnson - Chelsea and Mack – I cannot even begin to describe how absolutely over the moon happy I am with all of these! I’m so glad Cam cornered you and that I secured a business card from Mack during Hannah and Eric’s reception! I couldn’t imagine our wedding without you two being a part of the action and wouldn’t have trusted one of the most important days of our lives to anyone else!! I can’t thank you enough for working with us and for finally getting some good pictures of us!!

The Family Bed

I don’t remember exactly what Sunday morning it was, but I remember what it felt like… the sun was pouring in through the slats on our big fat wooden blinds, and my bed was full of children. Well, really, there were only two of them. But for some reason, when they’re wiggly in our bed first thing in the morning, it feels like more. And all four of us talked about our dreams and what we wanted for breakfast and whether or not it was cold outside. And I told Mack, “This is what I want pictures of. Our family bed. This big pile of happy people first thing in the morning.

That got an idea brewing… the idea of a “family bed” as a centerpiece in a family portrait session. And then when Meg and I were talking about doing a “special set” for our Spring 2013 Celebration Mini-Session marathon, it all came together. After all, I don’t know a mother in the world who doesn’t love those moments, curled up in bed reading & talking & tickling & living. The “big bed” is a sacred place for a family, and I LOVE the idea of family portraits surrounding it.

The McG Celebration Mini-Session marathon is coming up on April 6th & 7th. We’ll be shooting around our entire property in Arlington… lots of grass & trees & barns and things that don’t have anything to do with this bed. But we’ll also have THIS:

So if the following family portrait session pulls on your heartstrings and you want some of your own, call us. Or email us. Or Facebook message us. We only do two of these mini-session marathons a year, and we won’t be doing the Family Bed again in 2013. Only a handful of spots are still open, and it’d be a shame not to have them chock full of families & couples who want to celebrate life this April.:)

Special thanks to megBdesign for sourcing the headboard for us, and styling the bed. I want to steal the duvet & sheets and take them home with me!

And a big internet hug to Loren & Jimmy and their three gorgeous children, Halo, Sawyer, & Archer for coming to model for us. This was definitely not the sunny day we had in mind, but you are just the most ADORABLE family, and we’re always thrilled to have you in front of our cameras.:)

So full of awwwwww, right?? I can’t wait to shoot more people here!

Email chelsea@mcgowanimages.com, or use the contact form above to get on the roster for the April 6/7 McG Celebration Mini Session Marathon. There’s only a handful of spots left, first-come first-served, so don’t dawdle!:)

Nathan & Roberta : Engagement

When former McG bride Nadia contacted us to help her friend Nathan set up his proposal to Roberta, we were excited. Anyone Nadia is friends with is sure to be cool in our book, and that was true!:)We photographed Nathan & Roberta’s big moment back in November, and you can see that here. Needless to say, we were thrilled when they contracted us to shoot the rest of their love story happening later this spring!

When we met this couple last week on Magnolia in Fort Worth, it was COLD. Super cold, and windy. This bipolar Texas weather is really killing me lately! But luckily, Nathan & Roberta just took that as an excuse to snuggle in even tighter, and our session came together beautifully.

Here are a few of our favorites!

Their beautiful fur-child is named Sky, and she was so well-behaved during her portion of the session. Truly gorgeous animal!

Thank you, Nathan & Roberta, for being game to fight against the cold wind & make these portraits with us. You’re so lovely together, and we can’t wait for the rest of your adventure… May is just around the corner now!

February 20, 2013 - 8:18 am
