Meagan & Cody : Wedding

Between all the insane storms hitting Texas & Oklahoma the last two weeks, and the fact that it was mid-May, I’ll be honest… I didn’t expect great weather at Meagan & Cody’s Odessa wedding. Odessa in the summertime is traditionally similar to the surface of the sun, only drier. So color me surprised when we arrived at Meagan’s home church, only to find green grass, flowering trees, tolerable temperatures, and a lovely breeze. I mean, wow. I know we could have made magic for Meagan & Cody even if the sky unleashed a storm on us, but man, we sure were glad for that gorgeous weather!

Meg and “Coach” (as high school teacher/coach Cody is more commonly addressed) were married at the Crossroads Fellowship, with a reception following up the road at the MCM Elegante. The couple had such a supportive group of family & friends there to celebrate with them, and as far as I can tell, the day went off completely without a hiccup. We were so glad we could be a part of it!

Enjoy some of our favorite images of the day… starting, of course, with Meg’s yummy Jimmy Choo heels.:)

I spy a former McG bride!;)There’s no higher honor than when our clients tell their friends to book us… that means we accomplished every bit of our goal.

A sweet moment between the bride & her grandfather just before their long walk down the aisle…

This little courtyard outside the chapel was the PERFECT place for a 5 Minute Rule… Cody & Meagan were able to soak in a little uninterrupted time with each other, followed by some beautiful portraits.

Mack and I can’t recall the last time we had such a completely cooperative wedding party… especially not one this large! Every single person was on the ball, ready to help in whatever way they could. They were actually SO on top of things that our portraits ran ahead of schedule, instead of the more-expected lateness. SCORE!

The ballroom at the MCM Elegante was all set for a classy party… serving chicken & waffles for dinner put everyone in the right frame of mind for fun!:)

Glo-sticks and light up rings were SUCH a fun touch, both for the observing guests, and for the crazies on the dance floor!

I said before that Coach & Meg had an incredibly cooperative wedding party, and that’s true. We never had a spot of trouble from them all day long. But I WILL say that two groomsmen took it upon themselves to ramp the party up, and because of images like the one below, I have dubbed these two gentlemen “The Corruptors”.;)

All too soon, it was time to ride off into the sunset together!

Congratulations, Meagan & Cody! It was so much fun to work with you this past year, and we know you have a fantastic new journey ahead of you.:)

Lauren & Kevin : Celebration

There are a handful of wedding inquiry emails that I keep saved forever, because they’re just awesome. Lauren’s is one of those! She was so sweet & funny and crazy in love and SOLD on McG and and and… and, unfortunately, getting married on a date we were already booked. WAHHHH!!:(It all worked out for Lauren & Kevin and we recommended them to a colleague who took great care of them. I creeped on the pictures, and they’re adorable.:)But I won’t lie, I was thrilled to pieces to get another inquiry email from Lauren a few months ago to photograph her first anniversary portraits!

This is one of those couples that we just immediately clicked with. Their portrait session just felt like four people hanging out… well, if half the people are a little bossy and carry huge cameras all the time.:)I LOVE the easy joyful feeling we were able to capture in these images, because that’s just who Lauren & Kevin are.

We’re so excited you’re McG clients at last… we’re happy to do every anniversary this way!

Um, hello gorgeous. Sunlight, snuggles, beautiful people… all good!

Lauren & Kevin only dated for a year before their 2012 wedding, but they’d been friends since 2001! Talk about a history!

FUN!

Thank y’all so much for coming out… we’re glad you enjoyed the trip to the country!:)

Ann - I love anniversary pictures – not sure what the difference is to me – a level of relaxation with each other now that all the hoopla is over and they have settled in a bit? Not sure but these are lovely.

Cassi & Dan : Celebration

Cassi’s initial email broke my heart. It’s an email we get a few times a year, and I’m never emotionally prepared for it. The email that starts something like, “My wedding pictures are a disaster and I can’t look at them without crying.” It’s a horrible thing to have to say, and an even worse thing to feel, and my heart goes out to anyone who’s had this experience. Because as much as I’d like to, I can’t turn back the clock for Cassi. I can’t go back in time and capture memories of her wedding day for her.

I can do something, though. I can give this couple images of who they are NOW. Four years down the line, with heartaches & triumphs & the knowledge won after “newlywed” wears off. We can capture for them a few frames that show the way their bodies fit now that they’ve found the perfect hug. We can show all the love their hearts have grown to hold for each other… love that has gotten bigger since the wedding day.

I can’t give Cassi & Dan the wedding photos they wanted. No one can. But I hope that our session with them helped fill up their walls, and ease that hurt just a little bit. And hey… maybe for the 5 year anniversary, we’ll dig out that wedding dress & suit and make something EPIC together, huh?

Enjoy some of our favorites from this relaxed Fort Worth session!

Isn’t Cassie stunning? You’d never know the poor thing is recovering from mono and felt terrible the day of our session…

We shoot at Trinity Park in Fort Worth quite often, and it’s because of light like this… just never gets old!

Cassi & Dan, thank you for choosing us to photograph you. You were a joy to work with, and we hope we’ll get to do it again soon!

Thank you both SO much for an awesome experience and beautiful photos!!!

LeighAnn - Cassi – I feel your pain from your wedding day photos and trust me. You look gorgeous and stunning in these shots. It has inspired me to know that we too can replace some sad feelings with some good photos, even if they’re not from our wedding!!

May 22, 2013 - 10:45 pm

Nicole - They have beautiful portraits to hang in their home now!

May 23, 2013 - 10:48 am

megB of megBdesign - Cassi – I’m so, SO glad you were able to book a session with McG – your photos are wonderful, lovely, and full of light and life. Congratulations on 4 years!

Meagan : Bridal

We’ve had such fun photographing Meagan over the past several months! When we have a client this fun to photograph, it’s always kind of sad when the wedding is over… but hey, there’s always anniversary sessions, right?;)

We photographed Meagan’s bridal portraits at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden a few months back, and it’s finally time to share them! Enjoy a couple of my faves!

Total bombshell, right? Just wait ’til you see the wedding!!

Meagan & Cody Got Married!

McG spent the weekend in the Permian Basin, celebrating the wedding day of Meagan & Cody! This sweet couple was surrounded by such a great group of friends who helped them party the day away… we know they’re so excited to finally be Man & Wife.:)
