Meagan & Cody Got Married!

McG spent the weekend in the Permian Basin, celebrating the wedding day of Meagan & Cody! This sweet couple was surrounded by such a great group of friends who helped them party the day away… we know they’re so excited to finally be Man & Wife.:)

As usual, our favorite images from the day will all be in blog post on Friday, but here’s a couple stand-outs to get the week started right!

We’ve got a busy week here on the blog, with Meagan’s bridal session and two couples’ portrait sessions yet to share before we show off the rest of this wedding. See you tomorrow!

Amy & Clayton : Wedding

Amy & Clayton were married last Friday at the N at Hard Way Ranch in Bluff Dale, TX, one of our all-time favorite venues. We were a little worried about how the menacing storm clouds would affect their outdoor ceremony, but luckily, the rain held off until after the vows. And, well, you may have seen on Facebook that the storm actually came in handy for some portraits.:)

The entire day was so relaxed… Friends & family of the bride and groom really helped them focus on what mattered. Amy & Clayton were honored by guests who came in from all over the country to celebrate their special moments, and they were positively joyful all afternoon.

I love it when we’re able to catch a groom writing his vows before the ceremony. That piece of paper is a family heirloom!

Amy & Clayton weren’t sure about the idea of a First Sight at first, but then they read THIS blog post about the experience from some of our former McG wedding couples, they were sold. Their moments together here were so sweet and intimate… It was a delight to photograph!

Ceremony time!

Amy & Clayton’s faith is so important to them, and the worship song they included in their ceremony was so beautiful. Mack and I were both moved to tears to see two families coming to praise God together!

Mr. & Mrs. Anderson!

And then, oh… my hopes were almost dashed!

See, we’d planned to walk across the pasture to the other side of the property and photograph a few post-ceremony portraits with the newlyweds’ horse. But it started raining right after they were pronounced Man & Wife, and I was worried we’d have to forgo these images. Amy looked right at me and said, “Nah, it’s not raining hard… let’s run for it!”

And run for it, we did. And it was so so so very worth it!

GAHHHHH! Gorgeous!

Congratulations, Amy & Clayton! We’re so glad that you found us, and we were able to capture these amazing moments of your beautiful day. We hope you’ve had a fantastic week in Hawaii, and that you’ve been able to find a few of the places we recommended!:)

Happy weekend, blogstalkers… see you Monday!

Absolutely, ridiculously, fabulous. I repeat…I’m ready to vote for “best of”.

May 17, 2013 - 12:25 pm

Amy - I really think that the pictures of them with the horse, in the rain, could and should be on the cover of a magazine. It should for sure go on a canvas in their house. Beautiful pictures!

Simply… I love them, all of them. I can’t possibly thank Chelsea & Mack enough for such a wonderful job!! You captured every moment that meant the most to us + some!! From worshipping God to jumping with joy that we were finally married!!! :) Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! Besides choosing my groom, y’all are the best decision I made!!! xoxoxo

May 20, 2013 - 9:18 pm

Mike - I’ll echo Megan above – I know y’all are going to have a ton of awesome material to sort through at the end of the year, but this will totally be in the final cut. It has to be.

As I said before, this post blew. my. mind. McG kickin’ it in ultra-amazing-horse-hair-in-the-wind mode!

The B&G portraits are so yummy. The light, skin tone, interaction, B&Ws…everything.

I hope this word doesn’t sound lackluster, but this whole post is INCREDIBLE.

Congrats, Amy & Clayton! Y’all inspire me. I’m so proud of you for so intimately incorporating your faith in and throughout your wedding ceremony. Those shots during the song are heart-gripping. True worship in a covenant ceremony.

May 24, 2013 - 10:01 am

Kendra - Holy moly mackerel!!! Those shots with the horse are AH-MAZING!! Great job McG team. 5 Star Fabulous!! These two look like what you imagine straight out of a western romance novel. Gorgeous couple!

Margaret - The one of her jumping during the “five minute rule”…. AWESOME!

Brandon & Gara : Celebration

Brandon & Gara are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this year, and of course, that means they needed updated portraits! Gara is our landlord at the McG Studio at Bowen, and one of our favorite people. She has a fantastic energy and is wonderful to work with. This was our first time to meet her husband Brandon, but of course, he’s awesome too… we didn’t figure Gara would choose poorly.;)

We shot this session around the studio, and I just keep falling more & more in love with the light there. We’ve now been able to shoot at Bowen in every season of the year, and I’m so thrilled that we were able to snatch up a partnership with this gorgeous chunk of land. Makes my heart full, and our cameras happy.:)

Even cooler, Gara is a talented photographer herself! She shoots wonderful children & family portraiture, and we’re always so honored when a fellow artist wants OUR photographic visions captured on their walls. We hope you love these as much as we do, friend!

Isn’t she stunning?? I mean, Gara probably wakes up in the morning looking like a Disney princess, but I’m sure hair & makeup by the fantabulous MegB didn’t hurt the situation.:)Gorgeous as always, Meg!

Brandon & Gara’s two munchkins, Travis & Maryn, joined us for part of the session! I really appreciated how relaxed this was… no forcing it. Either they kids played nice for pictures, or they went somewhere else.:)No pressure (plus Nana making silly faces behind us) made for some beautiful images in only about 10 minutes!

LOVE.

Congratulations on the big 10, friends! We hope you enjoy every bit of this milestone year… your sweet family deserves the celebration!:)

May 16, 2013 - 7:03 am

Gara Hill - One cannot truly appreciate ya’ll’s awesomeness until you get in front of your cameras! As a fan of your work, I knew you took great pictures of OTHER people, but seeing your talents and vision come to life on us is beyond words. The session was so easy and fun, and even Brandon commented about how much he enjoyed working with you both. Thank you sooooo much for these beautiful treasures of our family! When our kids ask what we looked like when they were little we are gonna point to the giant canvases on our wall … and say smoking hot!!!!! XOXO to you both!

Amanda & Brad : Engagement

Brad & Amanda are the kind of couple that’s just unashamedly all in. They’re All In when it comes to each other, of course. Crazy about each other. They’re all in when it comes to life. Just in the short time I’ve known them, it’s become obvious that they live out loud and chase their dreams with joy. So really, I wasn’t surprised at all that when it came to their wedding and the photography of their precious moments, they were All In.

This gorgeous couple is whisking us away to shoot their 2014 wedding in New Orleans, and that’s sure to be an absolutely epic adventure. We kicked off the celebration with their engagement portraits around Granbury, TX… and ended the session with some dare-devil stunts that provided some “favorite pictures ever” for both of us.:)

Enjoy!

Amanda & Brad are easy laughers. There is absolutely NOTHING that can make a session more wonderful for me than big, genuine, belly laughs!

Aren’t they just beautiful people? I mean seriously, both of them. Just stop it.

For the second half of this session, we headed down to the lake with a canoe. Brad & Amanda rented the bright red vessel of awesome from Kayak Power, and it was exactly what we needed to take these portraits over the top!

Did you see the “Behind the Scenes” image we posted on the McGowan Images FB page earlier this week? Let me tell y’all, shooting while leaning over a tall highway bridge is no. joke.

WHOA. I mean, just steamin’ hot awesome, right?? This is the kind of session that gets my creative juices flowing… we’re riding a SERIOUSLY righteous wave of fun right now.:)(see what I did there? Waves? Canoe? Nevermind). Leave a comment with some congrats for Brad & Amanda, and let us know what you think!:)
