  • I’m Chelsea, and I have a passion for Photographing Women.

While my wedding work with McGowan Images is my full-time gig, the art I create for my “Girls on Film” is one of the most challenging & rewarding things I've ever done as a photographer. I consider it a personal mission to make sure my clients always leave their sessions feeling powerful, and proud of the skin they’re in, and I’m honored to say I've been succeeding at that since 2008.

What you’ll see on this blog doesn't always fit into the traditional “boudoir” genre, and I’m ok with that. While many of my clients show a lot of skin, my work is more focused on capturing each woman’s genuine spirit. I approach these sessions as a celebration of life… of womanhood… and I encourage my clients to think about them the same way.

Girls on Film clients have been women from 19-65 years of age, all races, sizes & shapes. We ALL deserve to feel beautiful. If this sounds like what you've been looking for, email me. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have, and I’d love to get you on the schedule for an empowering experience of your own sometime soon!

I’ve been photographing girls ALL OVER THE PLACE lately, and if you’re a blogstalker, that’s good news for you. At this moment, I have four ladies who are so stoked with their galleries that they can’t wait to post them on Facebook… which, they say, means it’s totally fine if I blog about them. 😉 YAY! New pretties on the blog!

I gotta start with BL. She’s a former client from Dallas who moved to Florida, and decided that she needed some new portraits in her new home to celebrate the new life she’s building for herself. She’s in fantastic shape, she’s HAPPY, she’s succeeding. And when she started talking about bringing me to St. Petersburg, it turned into this whole DEAL, and I got to photograph four other amazing ladies while I was in town, too.

Shooting BL is always fun. Her energy is infectious, and she’s full of stories. I’m so honored that she continues to choose me to help her celebrate all the milestones in her life… I’ll definitely keep being excited to see her!!

And yes, you’ll notice that what I’m posting the next couple weeks isn’t all traditional boudoir. In fact, some of the sessions don’t take place in lingerie or the bedroom at all. They’re my Pretty Girl sessions… celebrations of self… sexiness in the way THEY feel sexy. I don’t like keeping my clients in a box.:)

Check out some of my favorites from that shoot around the Vinoy Resort, and St. Pete Beach…

Daaaaaaaang mama. You’s a fox.

How are we going to top this next time???

It breaks my heart when ladies come into their Girls on Film session and I can tell they don’t feel confident in their skin. I hate seeing that. But I LOVE that they never leave that way.

It was such a breath of fresh air that Miss J didn’t come into her session with her head hanging low… this gal already knew she had it allll goin’ on. But even so, the experience still opened her eyes to exactly how powerful she is, and I LOVED being a part of that!

Here’s what this gorgeous woman had to say when she picked her images:

My Girls on Film experience was just amazing! Chelsea and Jennifer are both incredible people and artists. Before my session, I knew I was beautiful and I loved my body. But during my session, I discovered that I am stunning and more sexy and strong and powerful than I ever thought possible. I was struck speechless several times that day – once when looking in the mirror after having my hair and make up done and then again looking at previews of photos in Chelsea’s camera. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

So cool, right? Check out some of the pretty…

You’re one of those people that I’m proud to have met. You inspired me with the way you worked the camera, and I can’t WAIT to do it again!

stephanie - Lovely work as always!
I am so jealous of all the awesome things you get to shoot with (I have an affinity for old cars).

Miss J is just killing it, beautiful on the inside and out!ReplyCancel

When this gorgeous lady asked about bringing her 6 week old daughter with her to her boudoir session, my brain started turning. I ADORE the soft simple images of motherhood… mom & baby in the nursery in just a robe, rocking through the wee morning hours. But I wasn’t exactly sure how I was going to capture that closeness, that peace, during the mini session event I had planned for a couple weeks ago at the N at Hard Way Ranch.

Luckily, my client trusted me, and together with a killer hair & makeup artist (mad props to Jennifer with Lip Service Makeup!!), we made sure this new mommy felt like a total bombshell. Oh, and her sweet baby girl look phenomenal, too.:)

Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

“LADIES if you are looking at this blog and are on the fence about jumping in JUST DO IT…don’t wait until the “optimal” time! This is a wonderful experience that EVERY woman would benefit from no matter what life stage they’re in! Chelsea is extremely talented and is definitely practicing her gift by creating these pictures (works of art).  She will put you at ease with her engaging personality and her years of experience means you get shots that work with YOUR body and they turn out terrifically! I booked it as an anniversary gift to my hubby but after shooting decided this will have to be a birthday gift to myself regularly!  “

Thank you so much for your sweet words… and for letting me share a few faves! Can’t wait to see you and your sweet girlie again!

Miss L couldn’t stop talking about how different her Girls on Film session was from her previous boudoir experiences, and I love hearing that. I mean, I don’t love that she had awkward or unfulfilling experiences with photographers in the past, but I love knowing that I’ve been able to create something… both in experience and in final product… that stands out in a GOOD way. I work so hard to make Girls on Film something my clients cherish in their memory, and want to do year after year. I’m proud to know that Miss L is in that category of alumni now.:)

Isn’t that just STUPID pretty? Ugh. This lady’s husband is a lucky man.:)

I love working with US military personnel. Their strength & determination just blows my mind, and it’s an absolute honor every time I have one of these heroes in front of my camera. But there’s something really wonderful about seeing the softer side of one of the women who serves our country. Miss E was having a pretty rough morning before she came to see me, so I loved hearing what she had to say about her session…

Chelsea makes you feel completely comfortable from the first moment you step into the room.  Her knowledge of a woman’s body and the way her lights will effect the shot just makes you look and feel like a million bucks.  I was super stressed coming into this shoot having just dropped off my husband to return to our home in Japan, and knowing later that day I would be flying to complete training for my upcoming deployment to Afghanistan, but she somehow calmed me down enough and kept me from crying as I was having makeup applied and posing for this gift for my husband.  Rayven was so sweet, and my makeup and the little hair I have looked absolutely stunning.  The entire experience was unbelievable from beginning to end, and I very much look forward to doing it again!

I know he misses you, sweet girl… but this will have him VERY excited to welcome you home!:)

Thank YOU for all that you do. We’ll have to grab a drink & celebrate when you visit Texas after this deployment!!
