I don’t mind saying that I’m pretty done being pregnant. I mean, it still has it’s perks. People tend to get out of my way. But I feel safe announcing that here, at a little over 8 months, I could have this baby today and be a very happy camper.
Alas, she’s not done baking yet,...

McGowan Images retouching example
Hey kids!
It’s been a while since I did a “behind the scenes” post, and when I was going through the latest bridal portrait session, I found a great example I wanted to share.
While I in no way need my clients to be experts on all things photoshop, I do believe it’s good for people to...
breath of fresh air — simone’s bridal portraits
Simone is one of the 2010 brides that Mack and I are especially excited about. She and Garrett together are a ridiculously fun couple, and their San Antonio wedding in June is sure to be a highlight of our summer.
She’s also just one of those people that’s easy to photograph. It honestly has nothing to...
hidden jewels — Taylor’s senior session
If you drive up Highway 281 through the state of Texas, you’ll see about a gajillion small towns that look exactly the same. (I live in one of them, so I can say that.)
As you drive through these “blink and you’ll miss ‘em” towns, it’s easy to think that because they look similar, the people...
color makes my heart happy
The groundhog warned me that winter was never going to end this year. Every time I think we’ve caught a break… I catch myself enjoying some nice 60 degree weather… the forecast tells me there’s more snow coming. Oh, woe is me and my lack of sunshine.
Luckily, even on gray cloudy days, there is color...
get me to the church on time! – Cindy’s bridals
When Cindy contacted me, it was under stressful circumstances. She had last-minute issues with her wedding photographer, and she needed someone to do a bridal session PRONTO. Not only did the session need to be scheduled on the quick, but the pictures would have to be done in just a few days.
With a quick look...
warm on the inside — Jess & Jason in love
In our line of work, we’re blessed to spend lots of time with couples in love. These couples are planning their weddings… the start of their lives together. They’re celebrating a milestone, and so excited about the future. It’s a wonderful time to be in love, and it’s a real honor to capture that.
But you...
“a professional” — questions you must ask a wedding photographer
I am quite willing to admit that the annoyance I’m feeling right now might be exacerbated by pregnancy. That happens. Own it.
However, a post like this is also something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, because I feel like it’d be useful to my brides, and to my readers who may...
Happy Valentine’s Day!
We spent our Valentine’s Day outside in the frigid wind with some really gorgeous people. True to form, we’ve been home less than two hours and I’m blogging.
Mack makes fun of my inability to just sit on a session for a few days. And really, he’s right. It’s probably indicative of some mental disease, to...
hometown simplicity — Stacey & Scott’s engagement session
I rarely ever shoot in my hometown. And I mean “rarely”, as in, I’ve shot pictures in Stephenville twice. Several times I’ve taken clients out and about in the country surrounding Stephenville, closer to our actual home… but only one time have any of the pictures I’ve blogged been taken in the Stephenville city limits.
I...
